I qualified with a BSc (Hons) degree in Osteopathy from the College of Osteopaths, Middlesex University,
completing the course part-time over 5 years. I am registered with the General Osteopathic Council and
have full indemnity insurance. I enjoy treating patients of all ages; my approach considers the whole body
and is effective in treating a wide range of conditions.
I also have an Honours Degree in Biology and a Masters Degree in Environmental Pollution Control,
working in Scientific Equipment Export as a Company Director for several years before deciding to re-train
as an Osteopath. I became interested in Osteopathy after successfully being treated by an Osteopath for a
serious back injury I sustained following a jet-ski accident on holiday.
I am interested in, and have participated in; many sports and I enjoy weight training being a former
Schoolboy and Under-18 Midland Weightlifting Champion holding records at both age groups. I also have a
1st Dan Blackbelt in Shotokan Karate and was Captain of the University Karate Club.
Joy Potts DA
My background is from cycling, I started racing at 13 years of age and competed in time trials, grass track &
hard track racing and road racing. After a period of racing at International level on the road, in which I
competed at two World Championships I moved in to coaching and became National Coach to the British
Women’s Cycling Team in 1985.
During this period I took Teams to most international competitions, including the Seoul Olympics in 1988 and
the Commonwealth Games in Auckland in 1990. I held this position until resigning at the end of 1990 to
concentrate on studying Osteopathy.
Towards the end of my coaching career I began studying Sports Massage with the British Cycling
Federation Massage School and qualified in February 1989. In April 1989 I opened Enjoy Sport, Sports
Therapy Clinic, which I ran from my home.
While continuing to run the clinic I carried on studying part time, to become an Osteopath at the Northern
Counties School of Osteopathy (no longer in existence) and Qualified with a Diploma in Osteopathy in
January 1993.
